Connect Nodes/Elements to Areas

Connect Nodes/Elements to Areas

Connect Nodes/Elements to Areas

(OP)
I have imported volumes into ANSYS and meshed these with tets and bricks.  I currently have the ability to select volumes and then subsequently select elements or nodes that are attached to these volumes.  I thought that since the volumes are made up of areas, I could select an area and then select elements or nodes that are attached to the area.  I have tried this but it appears that the nodes and elements are not "on or attached" to the areas.  Is there a way that I can somehow connect the areas to the nodes or elements?  If I am being unclear in what I am asking, please let me know.

Thanks
