Eye Nut Load Ratings

Does a forged eye nut have a load rating for clamping (as well as lifting)?

RE: Eye Nut Load Ratings

The forged eye nuts have a load rating, but no specific clamping rating. The size of the thread is determined by the maximum (safe) load applicable on the corresponding bolt, equal to the eyenut load rating.

RE: Eye Nut Load Ratings

Are you saying that the eyenut load rating is equal to the bolt load rating?  This does not seem to be born out by the literature...eyenut load rating is usually a small fraction of bolt tensile load rating.  Perhaps the eyenut load rating is based on tensile plus bending in the bolt...assuming no clamping preload.
