Y intersection between 3 channels

Y intersection between 3 channels

(OP)
i have a situation where i have a y intersection between 3 open channels.channel 1 and 2 come in, and 3 flows out. i have a hump in channel 2, due to which i am trying to determine if at one point, water will flow over the hump to the other side. the channel system floods even for low frequency events, so i am not sure if simple comparison of wetted areas and perimeters will do the trick. i basically am trying to figure out that if at one point, the hump is overtopped, what are the ratios Q2/Q1 and Q3/Q1. i have been scratching my head over the past few days to figure out how to approach this problem. any suggestion/insight will be greatly appreciated.regards.

RE: Y intersection between 3 channels

Do Manning's calcs on each channel. Use a fairly long reach for each one to geta decent slope and n value. If they are flooding you may need to make them much larger.
