electro/mechanical control of pneumatic proportional valve

Need a way to control a large orifice proportional poppet with a microprocessor.  Must have linear actuation of approx .400" and develop 6N.  Anyh ideas?
Thanks

RE: electro/mechanical control of pneumatic proportional valve

Can't you just buy what you described?

I can think of several ways to homebrew it, depending on how fast you need it to respond and how you intend to interface it.

6N is not much thrust ~ 1.5 lb, are you sure it's correct?
Badger Research have a very nice linear actuator with stepper motor drive. I think the max stroke is about 1/2"

Aside from strapping on a valve actuator and an electropneumatic positioner, a poppet with 6N of force might just be installed instead of the spool valve in a positioner.

Thanks for the suggestions.
