sheet metal funnel

sheet metal funnel

sheet metal funnel

(OP)
Hi,
I have a part that I have designed as a solid part using the swept blend tool.  The part is a square 422mm X 422mm that transitions into a 122m diameter hole.  The distance between square and hole is 150mm.
So it is a funnel that goes from a square to a circle.

It was constructed originally as a solid and then the shell tool was used.

The current problem is that I would like to turn it into a sheet metal part and have calculations for the flat part done by Pro e.

The collar around the round part can be separate and welded on afterward.

I am not sure where to start, I have not used the sheet metal feature before.

any known tutorials would be great to on the sheet metal feature!

Thanks in advance

RE: sheet metal funnel

I couldn't open your file. What version of Pro-E was it created in?

RE: sheet metal funnel

I don't think that would even be made using bending. Looks more like a stamping to me.
To bend it, you'll have to add a rip somewhere for a weld seam.
I haven't had much look doing anything besides standard straight bends in Pro-E's sheetmetal application.

First things first:
Learn what developable and nondevelopable surfaces are.
Then learn how to model them and how to analyse for them.
Search terms: [ developable gaussian ].

There are different ways to model that type of shape and quite a few models
floating around you can examine.  Experiment with the different methods.
You should be able to find one that satisfies your intent.
Search terms:
[ pro/engineer sheetmetal | "sheet metal" square | rectangle | rectangular ...
... round transition flat | "flat pattern"  ] should turn up a few leads.

(There are at least half a dozen example models posted on that site if you'll dig.)

Sure it's true. I saw it on the internet.
