WELDER 01
WELDER QUALIFICATION Nº 01 (RANGE QUALIFIED):
P NUMBER: P1 À P11, P34, P41 À 47
Ø PIPE: ≥ 1"
F NUMBER: 6
-----------------------------------------------------------
SITUATION
P NUMBER: 10H (DUPLEX)
Ø PIPE: 1"
F NUMBER: N.A. (THE FILLER METAL HAS NOT F NUMBER)

DOES WELDER 01 QUALIFIED FOR THIS SITUATION, ACCORD ASME IX?

I just wanna know if the welder qualified F number 6 can weld a filler metal without F number, assuming that the other variables it´s correct.
And if possible, where I find this in ASME?
Thanks the attention
RE: WELDER QUALIFICATION - SITUATION
No, a welder currently qualified to weld with F-No 6 cannot weld using an unidentified filler metal, review ASME Section IX, QW-350 (these list the essential variables for welder performance qualification, and F-No change for filler metal is an essential welding variable for performance qualification, as mentioned above).
A welder could weld with any unidentified F-no weld rod (even coat hanger wire) provided the welder either qualified a weld procedure specification for using this filler metal or has run a coupon to qualify for this specific filler metal composition using a WPS that was qualified for this filler metal composition.
RE: WELDER QUALIFICATION - SITUATION
About this situation,
QW-356 (GTAW) - Essential Variables
QW-404.15 Change of F-number
QW-404.15 A change from one F-Number in table QW-432 to any other F-Number or to any other filler metal, except as permitted in QW-433
I understood, the F-number has changed, F-number 6 to unidentified filler metal, but ASME doen´t explain about unidentified filler metal or does?
