HCl tank pressure relief vents
HCl tank pressure relief vents
(OP)
I have an HCl application (37%) where we use a 750bbl tank. I need to install a thief hatch (8") and a fire hatch (20"). The challenge is that all PVTH's and EPR's I find are either carbon steel, aluminum or 316SS. Neither is acid resistant. (ambient conditions are +30ºC to -20ºC)
Does anybody here knows who can supply this type of relief vents for HCl?
I am going to start looking for hastelloys to manufacture them.
Any ideas would be welcomed.

Could you use some sort of sealpot? If water freezing was a problem you could design it for some sort of brine perhaps. Unfortunately, a sealpot does require some operator attention.

The non-metallic options resulted in the need for very low set-points which did not suit my application.
