DeltaV IO Problem

DeltaV IO Problem

DeltaV IO Problem

(OP)
Hi, I got called out to work on a DeltaV system, 3 racks of thermocouple, analog in and DI/DO. All the module lights except one were flashing error.  The only module without an error is the sole analog input.
Module diagnostics shows all bad except the analog input.
I downloaded the network and did an Auto Sense Modules, this shows all the slots empty except for 1.
I moved the good module to different slots, worked OK,
Checked power supply, buss connectors and all the usual suspects.
I called the local DeltaV experts and they couldn't shed any light.
The controller seems OK, I was able to do configuration changes.
Has anyone seen anything like this happen?

Roy

RE: DeltaV IO Problem

never worked on it
Looked at the emerson website.
Looks like you can use anyones io, not sure what your using.
any time that I have blinking idiot lights on a rack it usually points to the plc hardware config is lost or corrupt, comms are down, bad rack backplane, if it is io slices then its a bad connection, bad head module, check your dip sw's as compared to the hardware config, on Slice IO take the slices apart put back together, if rack io pull all cards out get an eraser, clean contacts. check power for correct voltage and current. check your fuses, etc....

Looks like you need their deltav software to check if someone messed with dip sw and such to make sure they both match.

good luck

I just heard from site, they figured out it must have been a faulty connection on the backplane although were unable to identify where, It's strange that the analog input was able to work when others wouldn't. Perhaps this module uses a different bus.
