How does the magnet installed in the fuel feed line reduces the Boiler fuel cost?

RE: Reducing fuel cost in the boiler

Magnet?  You sure about that one?
Maybe screws up the flowmeter
Or maybe the magnet is so strong it draws away the "cold"
Someone is messing with you

RE: Reducing fuel cost in the boiler

tzaa...

Can you send us more specific detail of your "magnet approach" to fuel savings ? Is one already installed at your plant ?

Are there pictures that exist of this installation or perhaps a website we could visit ?

What country are you located in ?????

RE: Reducing fuel cost in the boiler

It is the magnet someone took off the fuel line on their car.  It was giving him such good fuel mileage there he/she figured it might work well on the boiler (or maybe it was the guy that gave up on trying to sell it for automobiles).

I am going to go post a link to this thread in the automotive fora.  Those guys deal with this all the time.  They should get a real kick out of this.

I read about this magnet thing on the net and I wanted to get your opnion regarding this theory. I am trying to reduce the fuel cost on our boiler.

Here is the link http://www.tinet.cat/~sje/mag_fuel.htm

RE: Reducing fuel cost in the boiler

Improve insulation and refractory.  Reduce excess air.  Preheat combustion air.  Lower grade fuel (cheaper but check on $/mmbtu basis).

Just a couple of quick thoughts.

RE: Reducing fuel cost in the boiler

What kind of fuel are you burning?

tzaa1,

Along with heat conservation and combustion efficiency measures suggested by ash9144, also look at steam waste surveys (leaks, malfunctioning traps, more return / re-use of condensate).  Look up reports of steam trap management projects that have saved hundreds of thousands dollars in a typical plant of a thousand steam traps.
