Restart problems

Restart problems

(OP)
Hi!
Whenever I try to restart my PC , It goes to "Windows is shutting down " and does not proceed. Also the clock of my PC does not get updated when the PC is switched off. But when it is running clock works. Can anybody help?
Thanks.

RE: Restart problems

Sounds like the battery on the motherboard is dead. Make a trip to Wal-Mart and go to the jewlery counter. Tell the lady there that you need a CR-2032 watch battery. This battery is the same as you need to change the battery on your motherboard.

As far as your shut down problem. I bet you have Windows 98. Join the club....You could do some selective startup and shutdown settings by going to START, PROGRAMS, ACCESS, SYSTEM TOOLS, SYSTEM INFORMATION. Probe around in there and choose selective startup. Start unchecking one or two things in there. See if a startup program is cause problems. Or Disable your shut down SOUND. Maybe your shut down SOUND file is corrupt. This list of the things to check are endless in my book. Maybe this will give you some ideas.

good luck!

RE: Restart problems

Verify that your video card is seated properly in the socket.  I have seen various system level symptoms caused by this a partially seated video card.

RE: Restart problems

Are you running W98se?

If you are, there is a known shut down problem for which you can download a patch.
