Varying distance mate values between configurations

Varying distance mate values between configurations

Varying distance mate values between configurations

(OP)
Hi,

I'm using SolidWorks 2008 SP3.1...I have an assembly with some distance mates.  This assembly also has multiple configurations.  The value of the distance mate should vary for each configuration.  It seems to me that there's no way to configure the distance mate to do this other than to create a separate distance mate for each configuration and suppress the unneeded ones.  Any ideas on the correct way to do this, if there is one?

RE: Varying distance mate values between configurations

After creating your configurations, edit the mate. Under primary value, there's a configurations button. From there, you can choose which configurations the dim is applied to.

If you have more than two configurations, use a Design Table to control the differences.

RE: Varying distance mate values between configurations

The trick is to not change the dimension by right-clicking the mate in the tree but rather double-clicking the dimension mate and picking the dimension from the screen.  Here is where you give it the option to make it "This Configuration" which will make it configuration specific.
