Is there a forum to discuss protection issues related to IEC 61850 standard?

RE: IEC 61850

Hi HiSet.
Please don't mix protection issues and IEC61850 standard.
It's separete things.
IEC61850 standard is only declarated naming convention of protection functions , it's all. NOTHING OTHER.
Best Regards.
Slava.

Well I beg to differ with your view point on this issue.IEC 61850 is (or will become) very much part and parcel of protection as it talks about how to send CBF or interlocking signals via GSSE/GOOSE or how to send sample values from CT and VTs, both conventional and non conventional types. In short we will see lots of discussion on this emerging standard in future.

RE: IEC 61850

Hi HiSet.
OK.
BFP is protection, BFP via GOOSE is only kind of cable.
Kind of messages, high priority.
Inerlocking is control functionality. Low priority.
Sample value of CT/VT, it's future of IEC61850, on this moment IEC61850 isn't process bus.
Best Regards.
Slava

RE: IEC 61850

The IEC 61850 standard is about interoperability. That is about both exchanging the information among IEDs (Relays etc) tools and applications AND using that information to produce the functionality intended.

The application of IEC 61850 is therefore highly related to the function one wants to achieve when using the standard.

Please therefore share us the protection issues related to the standard you are thinking about. This forum is quite active and one of the better places for your questions...
