Attatch a block to a Dimension

Attatch a block to a Dimension

Attatch a block to a Dimension

(OP)
Hello Everyone,

I am having trouble trying to attach a block that I made to a dimension so that it moves when I move the dimension.  Is there any way to do this?  The block is a CTQ callout that is required by my company to be used on critical tolerance dimensions.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Attatch a block to a Dimension

"RMB --> Group" perhaps?

RE: Attatch a block to a Dimension

Depending on the size of the symbol and your desired proximity to the dimension, you might want to create a custom symbol.  One forewarning, though - the symbol will not be embedded in the drawing document.  It will show up on prints, but if you send the slddrw to someone else, it won't show up properly.

RE: Attatch a block to a Dimension

Is the block inserted into a sketch? just draw construction lines and dimension them? I do this all the time for logos, etc.

Guys,

I have found that the easiest way to do this is to create an annotation with a five sided box around it and drag it close to the dimension.  When I want to move the dimension, I just highlight both the annotation and the dimension.

TheTick, I have not found a what to group items in Solidworks.

Thanks for the suggestions.

RE: Attatch a block to a Dimension

The Group command only becomes available after Ctrl selecting the items to be grouped, and then Right Mouse Button clicking.

cheers

RE: Attatch a block to a Dimension

The Group/Ungroup commands can also be invoked from the Align toolbar.  But as CBL says you need to ctrl select two or more items first before the commands will become active.
