air carbon arc cutting

(OP)
(1)when i search by google for 'air carbon arc cutting, polarity', some article said DCSP, some said DCRP.Which one is right?
(2)How long can the ACA electorde extend at most beyond the holder? Some said 6 inches, some said 7 inches, which one is right?
Thank you so much for reply.

RE: air carbon arc cutting

7" is the max, but you may need to get closer depending on operating air pressure and stinger angle.

DCRP for steel and most aluminums.  For copper alloys and less common materials, use DCSP.  Arcair makes a nice little guide that I used to refer people to, as it gave a breakdown of materials and polarity, along with other operating variables and techniques.  You should be able to find it as a PDF on the Thermadyne website.
