3D charts

3D charts

3D charts

(OP)
I'm an Excel novice.
I have velocity and mass flow data taken across various sections of pipes.

I'd like to chart the results with a bar graph with the X axis wound into a circle.
I've Searched for Excel plug-ins and stand-alone free/shareware/commercial software to accomplish this with no success. I found plenty of programs to make bars of stacked footballs, fish or clown heads.

My best solution to date is make parametric CAD model with blocks in a circular array and extrude the block heights proportional  to the test values.  It's actually pretty quick.

Am I overlooking a simpler solution?

thanks,

Dan T

RE: 3D charts

You could do something similar with VBA to manipulate autoshapes.

I think it would be cumbersome.

RE: 3D charts

I don't know exactly what you're trying to do.  The following site has a lot of weird chart workarounds... fish heads, stacked clowns etc.

RE: 3D charts

You might just consider using the surface chart.

Convert your radial coordinates to (X,Y)s

Place the Xs as column headers, the Y as row headers and the velocity values in the corresponding cells.

Plot using the standard surface chart.

RE: 3D charts

You could create the same blocks in excel and plot the results as a 3D contour plot. Create a new sheet and fill a square region with the reults within the circular region. All values outside the circle set to zero.

RE: 3D charts

Why not a radar chart?  It's not bars, but it can be data points.
