Anti-corrsion "hard chrome" alternative

Anti-corrsion "hard chrome" alternative

Anti-corrsion "hard chrome" alternative

(OP)
Outdoor equipment with carbon steel rods
1.5 x 0.5 wall x 4 @ 8' 4 @ 16' 4 @ 26' long
supports 8' x 12' display platform.
Rods occassionally raise up & down thru UHMW guides.

Rod supported by welded collar at top of rod and passing thru steel support.  Bottom of rod is threaded and has a rod eye pinned to the platform.

Looking for anti-corrosion alternative to "hard chrome" (i.e epoxy with sealer/hardener).

RE: Anti-corrsion "hard chrome" alternative

Polyurethane paint and silicone grease?

Stainless steel tubing or hollow rounds?

Thin stainless wrapped around the CS?  (Lockseam or adhesive bond)

Oil well sucker rods?  ( I don't know if they're available in the length you need, but I think there is a selection of materials)

How many will you need?  How long do they need to survive?

Thnaks - Great - quick feedback -

Currently unit is a prototype.  Life before maintenance - 5 years.

12 rods per unit - 4 @ 8', 4 @ 16', 4 @ 26' long.

A polymer coating will probably not last long enough. There are many metal platings that can be used, including electroless nickel.

HVOF coatings are great for shafts in that type of or similar situations. I believe ABF in OH is a good place to start.
