Heat Index

(OP)
Hi all, in a lot of places stop work order required when the heat index is bigger than 50 deg C.

Well, the apparent 50 deg C temperature depends on the air temperature and humidity obviously.

I was asking myself; why 50?not 45, 55?...anyone got a clue?

Thanks.

RE: Heat Index

We use 120 F.  Its just a number based on experience.  In fact we use a tiered system.  As the temp goes up, we add in manadatory rest and rehydration until at 130 F we send everyone home or stop work.
