SRCR Generator voltage regulation problems

SRCR Generator voltage regulation problems

(OP)
We have a SRCR generator set, the voltage regulator has an "A1 (sealed black box) regulator control". Who made this black box and is there a schematic for what's inside? is there an alternative unit for this one. It's supposed to produce up to 100v & 77 amps. This one won't go over 25 volts. The Caterpiller guide book has a static test in the back which this black box and another black box do not pass the test but both have the same values. Any suggestions?

RE: SRCR Generator voltage regulation problems

The A1 module is potted, it was made by Century Electric for CAT, there is no direct aftermarket.

Most of the old brush type generators I work on nowdays get an aftermarket regulator from PowerTronics.

Hope that helps.
