Max No of cylinder to be chained up?

Max No of cylinder to be chained up?

Max No of cylinder to be chained up?

(OP)

Can anybody guide me what should be the max number of cylinders to be chained up together. due to lack of space we started chaining up upto 12 cylinders per chain, seems like very unadequate practice. any requlatory requirment for this?

RE: Max No of cylinder to be chained up?

OSHA does not set a max number of cylinders to be chained.  There are far too many veriables to simply assign a number.  If you have a 3 walled storage area that can hold 12 cylinders but is 12 deep by 1 wide, how would the chain be inadequate?  If you have 12 cylinders against a wall with one chain, then I would say it needs addressed.  This is one of those areas where OSHA wants you to have good judgement, and if you don't you could be cited for General Duty Clause violations.

RE: Max No of cylinder to be chained up?

Rule of thumb... if it looks un-safe then it probably is... you must have some concerns or you would not have posted
take the time and make it safe... remember if you did what needed to be done, then no one will ever know, if you don't then everyone will know... just something to think about
