Poppet design

(OP)
We are working on a 3-way and a 4-way poppet style valve for the packaging industry.  We are having significant problems with the poppet/seat design.  We can not seem to get the poppet design to seal consistantly.  The seat is about .500 in diameter and needs to seal using a load of .3 lbs and .001" compression.  The valve is small and space is limited.  Can anyone help?

RE: Poppet design

what seat angle are you using
are you using a soft seat or hard seat?

these are important questions.

I have found that the 60 degree seats are ok for soft seats but a 70 degree seat is better for hard seats.

how have you sized your springs?

as for size restrictions look into a wave type spring.

RE: Poppet design

Contact Durabla Fluid Technology at 1-800-206-4013 to solve this problem. You will not solve your problem using a "poppet" style valve. Wrong design. Long term consistant shut capabilities can be achieved using Durabla in-line silent checks.
