How to use Symmetric Model Generation in Abaqus CAE?
How to use Symmetric Model Generation in Abaqus CAE?
(OP)
I have created a 2-d axial-symmetrical model and an input file.
Now I want to generate a 3-d model. How can I fix my problem?
As far as I am informed (in Abaqus CAE) I have to
modify the input file.
What do I have to write in it and where?
thanx for helping

RE: How to use Symmetric Model Generation in Abaqus CAE?
In order to generate a 3d model, you can use the sketch that you created for your axi-symmetric model. You can copy the sketch to the new part and use it to create a revolved solid in CAE.

of 3 parts, which I have put together (assembly).

In order to successfully run 3d analysis using symm. model generation, you need to create a flat 2d model that Abaqus can use to restart with. SMG does not work with the usual part-assembly-level axisymm models. Depending on your version, there should be a plug-in that allows you to set the Parts Input File option to OFF. Do this with your 2d analysis, then run that.
Only then can you use your 3d input file to import the deformed 2d body from the .odb (2d run) and start from there. Remember to name the two models differently.
If you are still unclear on this, please ask again.
hope this helps,

P.s. Btw, you might want to differentiate yourself so you can evolve into optimus prime :)
