AWS SWPS USED IN ASME WELD REPAIR

AWS SWPS USED IN ASME WELD REPAIR

AWS SWPS USED IN ASME WELD REPAIR

(OP)
I've been asked to develope a weld repair procedure for a LH2 sphere tank, 800,000 gal. Specifically to repair or build up the outert shell where once upon a time there were stairs.
Long story short is UW-42 (a) (1) (2) my paragraphs for this approach. I believe it to be.
The original wlements where 3/16 fillets and the material is A 285.
Can I use AWS B2.1-1-016-94r standard welding procedure specficitaion for SMAW of M-1/P-1/S-1, Gr 1 or 2) 1/8 through 1-1/2" thick. E7018, As Welded or PWHT condition as a pre-qaulified procedure and satisfy UW-42 (1)?
Thanks in advance.
I'll provide as much info as I can.......

RE: AWS SWPS USED IN ASME WELD REPAIR

I beleive that the answer may be yes, but am cautious about saying so with firm conviction.  First of all, what is your repair Code (NBIC, API-510, none?).  What is your MDMT and are impacts required for the WPS?

RE: AWS SWPS USED IN ASME WELD REPAIR

If impacts are required, the SWPS cannot be used.
