Reversed Polarity on Closed Delta Bank

Reversed Polarity on Closed Delta Bank

Reversed Polarity on Closed Delta Bank

(OP)
What effects will reverse polarity have on a closed delta bank?  Will the adverse effects on equipment be instantaneous  or over a period of time?

RE: Reversed Polarity on Closed Delta Bank

Instantaneous.  All the motors will turn backwards.  If they are running when this happens.. Not good.

RE: Reversed Polarity on Closed Delta Bank

Do you mean reversed phase rotation? If so see itsmoked's answer. Older three phase refrigeration compressors may fail due to lubrication issues. Equipment with phase reversal protection will quietly NOT start.
Do you mean reversed polarity of one transformer in the bank?
Very heavy secondary circulating currents and primary currents. Expect the transformer primary fuses to blow and possibly the distribution feeder to trip out. Possible transformer damage.
Negligible effect on the loads.
