insert part thickness in a drawing

insert part thickness in a drawing

insert part thickness in a drawing

(OP)
When i import the flat pattern of a part, how can i insert it's thickness in a NOTE without having to add the side view.

Thanks!

RE: insert part thickness in a drawing

Check the Help files for link, notes to properties

cheers

RE: insert part thickness in a drawing

Add text to the drawing.
If the thickness is within the part's "properties", you can also link to it from the text.
Search for "Link to Property" in SW Help.

The thickness was not in the properties of the part...

thanks a lot..

RE: insert part thickness in a drawing

From original part, insert design table.

Add the dimension you are interested in. The form will look something like this: Thickness@Sheet-Metal2

Insert design table into your drawing from drawing file by right clicking on view you created and inserting the design table. Better than a note.

How can i insert the part's boundary to my drawing. I find a macro about it. But i need to rerun the macro when i modified any dimension. So this is not what i want. Does Anybody know better solution?

RE: insert part thickness in a drawing

Cazdebain,

You can control the thickness through a design table, making it accessible to your note.

You can add the side view, and drag this outside the drawing sheet, where it will not be seen.  Add the thickness dimension.  Type your note, and click on the thickness dimension.

Why not just add the damn side view?  That is what I do!
