Need to rename 22 files within an assembly.

Need to rename 22 files within an assembly.

Need to rename 22 files within an assembly.

(OP)
Here is the problem.  I need to change the names which range from -001 to -022 but different parts get different numbers.  In other words, I will only use #'s 1 through 22 but they are already being used by another part.

I tried reassigning numbers through the reference manager but that went nowhere.  Any suggestions?

Use the SolidWorks Explorer to rename parts.

Rename the parts to something else first.
e.g. If you want -001 to become -005 (but -005 is already in use), change the -001 to -005X, then when all numbers have been changed, remove the X.

cheers

I opened SW Explorer and it says Unable to Launch SW Explorer.  Make sure you have SW2007 Installed.

SW Explorer is part of Offic Pro. You should be able to modify your install and get it.

Okay I can see all the files in Explorer.

I made a copy of everything using Pack and Go and put it on a folder separate from all project files.  So basically it's an expendable duplicate.  Can you guys help me with the procedure for doing this right the first time?

RE: Need to rename 22 files within an assembly.

Pack & Go allows for you to add a prefix or suffix to the file names in an assy.  I usually put the part number before like - xx-xxx-xx Base Plate.  This takes care of the problem of the file name being used elsewhere & keeps everything neat and together.  No need to do this until your finished.

ok. Was able to get the renaming done using SW explorer.

thanks you
