Hi to everyone! I need some help. Is anyone csan tell me the real cause of hanging-up the whole fire alarm control panel. When we turn-off the power source , then turn it on again, the system back to normal. During hang-up all keypad & display at halt, no response to any commant and the LCD is froze. It will back again in normal when you shutdow the power & turn-on again.

RE: Fire Alarm System

Contact the manufacturer and let their service technician troubleshoot it. (Not a third party service company).

RE: Fire Alarm System

Based on your description, the micro-controller is hanging up. This can be caused by any number of things both internal and external. A good commercial system should include a watch-dog circuit to automatically reset the uC and alert you to the intermittent failure.

My house alarm panel was once damaged by lightning. I was able to diagnose the failure location by noting that one input pin on the uC (connected to the longest sensor wire of course) wouldn't go high (it was internally shorted). I installed a new uC chip and that fixed it.

Do you have a service contract?

RE: Fire Alarm System

I agree with rbulsara.
The future liability issues with fire alarm systems are pretty severe otherwise.
