Tempory structures behind Segmental Retaining Wall

Tempory structures behind Segmental Retaining Wall

Tempory structures behind Segmental Retaining Wall

(OP)
I have a situation whereby an Architect is proposing few temporary structures right behind the wall which is 4.0 ft high the finished surface would have on top patio pavers. The structures are Gazebo with 8 sonotube foundations with min 4.0 ft depth, a glass structure with sonotube foundation and a temporary prefab Coach house with no foundation it sits right on pavers. I am not sure what kind of loads i have to consider from these structures. How would these structures  apply loads do i have to consider wind loads from closed structure like glass house and coach house. For the design of wall i am going to surcharge it using 100-150 psf live load.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

RE: Tempory structures behind Segmental Retaining Wall

You may want to pose some of your questions to the professionals at the SRW licencing companies. Their engineers frequently get involved in similar situations in the U.S. and internationally.

The use of SRWs around and along waterways amd lakes with a paver surface and miscellaneous structures on the upper paved areas is a common application. The engineers are well versed in the varous methods to handle the design of the walls and attaching/accomodating the "people" elements like temporary structures, railings and utility posts/attachments.

If the base of the foundations are at the same elevation as the base of the wall, no force will be felt by the wall from the structures.

Thanks for your replies i am not worried about the surcharge force from the above structures i am more worried about the wind effects that could apply force on to my SRW wall through the soil.
