Liquid Rheostat
Liquid Rheostat
(OP)
We have a 6k, 6.9kV Rotor Would Indiction motor that was probably built back in 40's. It is connected to a Liquid Rheostat control that is probably just as old as the motor.
There isn't too much documentation on the liquid rheostat. Does anyone know where I can find some good information about the operation and maintenance of a liquid rheostat?
Thank you!

RE: Liquid Rheostat
I used to come across an electrolytic starter made by a French company called AOIP. I used to come across them in quarries etc where the maintenance was very much lacking-they went on forever and so nobody tended to know much about them-apprentice quarry tech's would 'top them up'.

It seems the common electrolytes are Salt/Water of Caustic Soda/Water.
I expect you will be able to refurbish it and it will still be good to go in 2040
Good Luck

Check with these guys.

I checked with flomatcher also but their unit is designed specifically for variable torque loads and variable speed rather than constant torque loads with high inertia like crushers and shredders.
