NX5 Advanced Sim: unable to apply velocity constraint to RBE3 elements
NX5 Advanced Sim: unable to apply velocity constraint to RBE3 elements
(OP)
NX5.0.5
It's common to use a "spider" of RBE2 or RBE3 elements to pass forces to a collection of nodes.
In a transient (direct) simulation, I am able to apply a velocity constraint to the core node if the spider is composed of RBE2 elements.
I wanted to see if the flexibility of RBE3 elements would more accurately represent the reaction at the leg nodes. But, I get the following error:
"
USER FATAL MESSAGE 2101 (GP4)
GRID POINT 4559 COMPONENT 3 ILLEGALLY DEFINED IN SETS UM US
"
I checked the documentation, which not enabling the 4,5,6 DOF's. I still get the above error whether or not the DOF's are limited to 1, 2, and 3.
Any suggestions as to whether this behavior is expected? Why does the velocity constraint work for RBE2, but not RBE3?
Oh, and by the way, why can't one apply an initial velocity to a node for transient analysis? (OR can you?)

RE: NX5 Advanced Sim: unable to apply velocity constraint to RBE3 elements
I have never got that involved with FEA scenarios, but there appears to be few users of the advanced simulation tool in this forum. If you have maintenance with NX, you could call GTAC, though I find that it is hit and miss with those guys sometimes especially with advanced simulation.

NX really does have a fantastic simulation preprocessor on their hands; there's a lot of potential here.

Instead, at the moment, I think it'd be a good thing to keep posting here, and try to contribute back where possible.
RE: NX5 Advanced Sim: unable to apply velocity constraint to RBE3 elements
Does any body experience in nx5 these problem: i arrayed threaded hole then i want to change the thread parameter specifically the thread depth(custom) because before i made it full. The edit parameter dialogs run/complete the process, but after all it did not update. i try to delete the threaded hole to create new but these error occur: i am not sure the whole message but the line as i remember has these word(invalid id), i try to delete the arrayed parameter of the threaded hole but still same error. I suppress the threaded array and try to update the threaded hole parameter, it updateworks, but when i unsuppress the array it will update to the old parameter(full depth).
I really wonder why threaded hole cannot be deleted when it is already arrayed.
Please enlighted me, if somebody experience the same and able to troubleshoot.

I recommend that you re-post your question as a new topic in the forum, since it's not really related to this particular thread (pardon the wordplay :) That said, not sure how to help you on your question at the moment.

My apology of posting my question here. I just log as a member today. I will repost my topic. Thanks for the advise.
More power.
