Thermal expansion

(OP)
Hey,
I have a pipe with a fastener screwed into it.
The pipe and fastener are of different materials.
I'm trying to find out if an increase in temperature will lead to a pressure rise or gap in the nut/bolt connection.

Is there an easy way to do this in ansys workbench?

Thank you

RE: Thermal expansion

Hi,
the answer may be "yes" if you mean global dilatation / contraction wrt a reference temperature (i.e. you make the hypothesis that the bodies are all at an equilibrium temperature X when the reference temperature for "null deformation state" was Y). In this case, you only have to inserto a thermal body load in a structural static analysis.
If, instead, you want to find a temperature distribution due to a heat source for example, and determine the deformations / stresses accordingly, then you will have to perform a coupled thermal + static structural analysis, IF you have the proper license to do it.

Regards
