Design of Tee Section using AISC ASD 9th ed

Design of Tee Section using AISC ASD 9th ed

(OP)
I am trying to design a Tee section in bending using AISC 9th ed.  It does not really seem to be covered anywhere.  It is bent about the strong axis (in plane of the stem) and the stem is in tension.

Where is it in the code?  Use Section F3?  I've seen somewhere that a Qs factor is important, but I can't find it.

Any help is appreciated.

RE: Design of Tee Section using AISC ASD 9th ed

I have the Unified Design of Steel Structures Book by Geschwindner and it has some basic LRFD info on pages 171 to 173. When the stem is in compression a penalty is applied. Not your case. What is your section, loading and span on the tee?

There are some geometries that aren't covered in the 9th Edition and are covered in the newer version.  You can download the newer code, minus the tabular data, for free, and see if it's covered there.  Flat bar loaded on edge is another case like that.
