ANSI Y14.5-1994 interpretation
ANSI Y14.5-1994 interpretation
(OP)
What is the meaning of "MR"?
It used to be Full Rad then added CR for Controlled Radius.
I have a customer who dimensioned a radius MR

RE: ANSI Y14.5-1994 interpretation
Radius dimensions were either R or MOD R.
R was like a controled radius, no flats or reversals.
MOD R allowed flats and reversals.
It may be this is what the customer means by MR, you better ask to be sure.

And it's "ASME Y14.5-1994".

RE: ANSI Y14.5-1994 interpretation
I don't see it listed in Fig C-3 or section 1.8 of ASME Y14.5M-1994 and don't recall ever coming across it.
I even checked Y14.38-1999 and while it has 3 options for what MR can be, none of them are relevant (Machine Rifle, Maintenance & Repair, Marble).
I can think of at least 3 things it could be meant to be, Max Radius, Min Radius or Multiple Radii - guessing the wrong one might be problematic.
Again, ask the customer.

RE: ANSI Y14.5-1994 interpretation
To the OP if your customer print says ANSI Y14.5-1994 then it's referring to a different (non existent?) spec.
If it doesn't refer to ASME Y14.5M-1994 then you can't necessarily expect an answer to come from there.
