I am currently using ANSYS Workbench to perform a Static Structural Analysis on a complex 3d model.  I uploaded an assembly from Pro/E for the geometry of this simulation.  I have read previous posts about this problem and have had no luck.  I set my forces, supports, and pressures, and when I solve, I get displacements such as the one I have in the attachment.  I also get that error in the subject as well as
"Warning: Solver pivot warnings have been encountered during the solution.  This is usually a result of an ill conditioned matrix possibly due to unreasonable material properties, an under constrained model, or contact related issues.  Check results carefully."

I was wondering if anybody had any possible work-arounds for this problem.

RE: One or more contact regions may not be in initial contact.

Does it run with all bonded contact?  Looks like a severely unconverged solution.  Unfortunately, contact isn't as easy as workbench makes it to use.  If the file is small, you may consider zipping and uploading it here for others to have a look at.

You may want to try a lower contact stiffness to see if you can get it to converge with that if everything is initially in contact.  Generally, these problems are tough to diagnose remotely.

Unfortunately I am not able to upload it due to company policy.  I have it set on all bonded contacts. How would one go about lowering contact stiffness? (I designed the model myself and they are definitely in contact with one another.

RE: One or more contact regions may not be in initial contact.

Try running the constrained model under unit loads. It may solve and you can determine what area of the model is causing you problems.

Also, try describing the type of static structural analysis your trying to solve. Maybe your applying conflicting loads/constraints.

I am applying a pressure in two spots along two beams near the bottom.  I am applying 6 specific loads on beams/bodies throughout the structure.  In the picture above, I am not applying the load anywhere near those bodies that are causing me errors.  When I check pinball regions, it appears as though the pinball regions are being placed nowhere near the actual contact regions and thus, may not realize that the contact regions specified are in intial contact with one another.

1)i would try checking the solution information under solution, normally it will give you more information on the error.

2)Try adjusting the default value of the tolerance slider under connections.
