Underground Rigid Metal Conduit Support

Underground Rigid Metal Conduit Support

(OP)
I will be installing multiple layers of rigid metal conduit in a concrete incased underground ductbank and need to find conduit supports/spacers that are manufactured for that purpose. I have used the Carlon type in the past for PVC conduit, but they will not carry the weight of the metal conduit. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

RE: Underground Rigid Metal Conduit Support

Craig,
I normally use strut type supports for that purpose, and not always within the code rules as far as spacing between supports as they are not the real support after the concrete is poured.  I am not aware of a product made specifically for that application.

RE: Underground Rigid Metal Conduit Support

I've seen cinder blocks (CMU) used for supporting ducts prior to pouring.  Not exactly purpose-made, but they seemed to work pretty well.
