IEC 61850 Interoperability Course / Training / Workshop

IEC 61850 Interoperability Course / Training / Workshop

I would like to inform all of you about this course:

http://www.stri.se/metadot/index.pl?id=9332&isa=Category&op=show

I am planning to be there, I hope I will see some of you.... just try to wear a green tie smile or invent a sign so that we can recognize each others... It will be cool!

By the way, it is in Sweden (Ludvika) at STRI facilities. The link goes to an English document, so I will not copy/paste any information here.

I hope this is useful for all of you that are posting on 61850!

Thanks a lot 521AB for the information.
It's really intresting. I'll check this option with my boss.
Best Regards.

Remember the green tie!

RE: IEC 61850 Interoperability Course / Training / Workshop

I would also recommend that you contact OMICRON for IEC 61850 training. They have been involved in 61850 for many years and have SW / HW to test goose messaging and the 61850-9-2 (Sampled values).  Generally when there is an interoperability  test for 61850, Omicron is called upon to be the referee (acting like a protocol sniffer,  Goose message generator / reciever and now Analog / Digital (Sampled values) generator.

Most IED OEM's use Omicron for type testing of their own designs as well.

RE: IEC 61850 Interoperability Course / Training / Workshop

Yes, Omicron has an excellent course on how to test IEC 61850 systems and use the CMC test sets against several vendors IEC 61850 IEDs.
But what is needed is also a course showing how to do the engineering and future maintenance modifications/extension of a system with IEDs from several manufacturers.
I mean TVA have done this but the tricks and hints required to succeed are not readily available. That's the sort of training required.
I guess most vendors want to promote their products (and system builders) so they seem to share the steps to interconnect their equipment to other vendors on a one to one basis. (And even at the major vendors this knowledge doesn't seem widely spread).

RE: IEC 61850 Interoperability Course / Training / Workshop

Re Nick75's post:

Kinectrics also has a course on IEC 61850 which includes lab testing of IEDs from several different vendors for true inter-operability (i.e. not just compatibility with the 61850 standard).  The software tools, engineering and  modifications required to do that are covered.

http://www.kinectrics.com/Library/13%20IEC%20-%2061850%20reform%20NEWDv1-%20JC%20Tan_MB0708.pdf

Kinectrics is not affiliated with any vendor so does not promote any vendor, just teaches how to get all IEDs to inter-operate.

RE: IEC 61850 Interoperability Course / Training / Workshop

Hi to All,

A new STRI course about IEC61850 and IED Interoperability is planned 3rd to 6th march. The location will be Frankfurt, Germany.

http://www.stri.se/index.pl?id=2189

I'm planning to join. Who have been at the former courses? Where they good/useful? Or may be, too abstract?

I've heard that they even show how to engineer a IEC61850  substations with IEDs of different manufacturer using 3rd party software. Someone who knows more about it? Which Software?

Thanks

I was there the first time, and NOBODY had the green tie smile

The SW is Helinks.

I am sorry if I did not participate very much to the forum in the last months. I'll try to catch up again!
