HIC and SSC TEST

HIC and SSC TEST

HIC and SSC TEST

(OP)
Hello Friends,
We are working on NACE materials recently. I have a question about HIC the SSC test. Normally according to NACE MR0175, materials with controlled hardness, content of S and P, and yield strength according to MR0175 is acceptable for NACE application. Sometimes customer need HIC and SSC test, sometimes no need.
My question is under what condition we should request HIC test and SSC test, at same time under what condition just request NACE application only.

HIC is usually performed, SSC is requested when the material is not a pre-qualified materials or the operating conditions are not within the limits of NACE for that specific materials.

RE: HIC and SSC TEST

If the material complies with all other requirements, it is either at the discretion of the end user or as directed by another applicable standard, e.g. ISO 3183 for linepipe.

RE: HIC and SSC TEST

You need to do the test when the material isn't pre-qualified into MR0175 or if the environnement is more severe as authorized.
