UL94 UL 94 Standard flammability

UL94 UL 94 Standard flammability

UL94 UL 94 Standard flammability

I have a customer spec which requires V0 on the assembly. The outer enclosure meets V0 standard as far as material and thickness. However, I have a piece of plastic inside the enclosure that is rated for V2. Does this piece need to be V0 in order for the whole assembly to be V0 or it does not matter since it is inside the outer enclosure that is V0? Any help/comment would be great.

RE: UL94 UL 94 Standard flammability

Customer requires UL94V-0 on the assembly.
Your assembly consists of parts that aren't V-0.
You don't meet their requirements.

Thank for you reply to my thread. I couldn't find anything in the UL spec book says one way or the other. So you are saying every parts (form padding spacer, polymnide tape, and etc) has to be V0 in order for the assembly to be V0. My first thought was that it would be okay since all internal parts are protected by casing that is V0? Do you happen to know what section I can find this information in the UL94 standards so I can reference this please. Thank you again.

RE: UL94 UL 94 Standard flammability

No I can't tell you what spec they are following but for my work we need to follow UL/IEC 60950.
and there are lots of little caviots like physical part size,etc.. other test that will need to be carried out if all parts are not V-0,etc.. Just talk to your customer about these and see if they really need to be V-0. Have them check out the spec.
The V0 spec might just be a standard note they put on all stuff but there might be exceptions.
