Low heat thermal expansion.
Low heat thermal expansion.
(OP)
Here's the problem...
I need to extend and contract two cylinders.
Much like the spring loaded part that holds a toilet roll but I can't use a spring.
What I'm looking for is a thermal expander that when one end is heated (low heat) the unit will expand. Once it cools the unit will contract. And the whole unit is about the same size on the before mentioned toilet roll holder.
Does anyone have any ideas? Or can you point me in the right direction?
Best regards,
Rhue

RE: Low heat thermal expansion.
Bi-metallic strips
shape memory alloy
Need more info like amount of force required,etc..
What is meant by low heat?
RE: Low heat thermal expansion.
What temperature?
Ted
RE: Low heat thermal expansion.
It needs to extend about 4 inches.
Temperature is between 500 and 600 degrees celcius.
Any ideas will help.
Thanks again,
Rhue

RE: Low heat thermal expansion.
How about length and diameters of cylinders and are you extending and contracting between 500 and 600 degrees C ?
