You might want to check the "separators" section in Perry's Chemical Engineers'Handbook (see Index) which list a variety of them.

J.Y.C. Hoeben:

I agree with Airbus that you should check in "Perry's Chemical Engineers' Handbook".  I would also suggest that you look at "Controlling vessels and tanks" by W.C. Driedger in the March 2000 issue of the Hydrocarbon Processing magazine.

Air Pollution Dispersion Modeling
Visit my website to learn about "Fundamentals of Stack Gas Dispersion", a most comprehensive book on dispersion modeling of continuous, buoyant air pollution plumes. The site has published peer reviews and the complete Table of Contents.

RE: separator design

I have a question for you, what type of separator do you like to design?. Horizontal, vertical, cyclonic, supersonic, I comment this because I study several separator geometric configurations. The other vistor opinions are correct but the autor of that reference describes only empirical solutions

RE: separator design

For classical separator design try these..
1.Campbell: http://www.jmcampbell.com/ their books on gas processing cover this also..

2. API 12J (standard, American Petroleum Institute?)

3.GPSA engineering databook.(Gas producersSuppliers accosiation) http://gpsa.gasprocessors.com/about.html

For specialist consultants in separator design you may try
http://www.cds-separation.com
These guy specialise in compact novel designs.
The have had both sucesses and misses, but are up and coming in compact scrubbers and separators.

Lets share info/litterature on this subject, Email: ersolh@frisurf.no

RE: separator design

A good place to start is the PETROLEUM ENGINEERING HANDBOOK by Brady. It shows step by step proc for sep sizing. If not the www.spe.org electronic library may be off help..If not then try a service Co, like Hanover in Houston..

Hope that helps..

RE: separator design

hi stimman,

i was interested in the Petroleum Engineering Handbook but can you give me an idea of what it could cost me? and how to grab a copy in the U.S.A?

RE: separator design

Check on half.com's web-site.  They'll tell you the suggested price and whether they have any copies for sale.  You can pick up some good buys in used books, I got a copy of the Babcock and Wilcock Steam: It's generation and use in excellent condition for under $10 (including shipping).
