Sidewalk Repair

Sidewalk Repair

Sidewalk Repair

(OP)
During a tunnel inspection, it was discovered that a portion of the approach sidewalk had a large depression (surrounded by cracks and spalls).  The depression in the sidewalk retains water near the wall, and the client would like to come up with a solution that drains the water back towards the roadway.  The obvious solution would be to re-grade the sidewalk, but our client would like a simpler and less expensive solution.  Has anyone encountered a similar problem in the past?  If so, what solution did you come up with?

RE: Sidewalk Repair

Remove the mistake, regrade with suitable compaction and repave with a positive slope.  Leaving the mistake in place is to allow future failures of the subgrade.
