RE: incoloy 800ht

Here is the material that yoou are talking about. It is Solar Flux and is used quite often in welding alloys materials. I don't knowthe intended operating tmeperatures of your 800Ht so I would talk with Solar and as posted by [b]wekitek[b] contact Special Metals.
We have used it on 310SS at 1200F with no problems.

and anyone knows if asme code or b31.3 permit this kind of fluxes...i have to use it in a reformer hydrogen furnace at the pig tails in the outlet system...

RE: incoloy 800ht

I don't believe that there is anything in B31.3 that would prohibit it if the WPS and PQR's were there to back it.

However, in process piping, solar flux is RARELY a good idea.  It forms a VERY difficult to remove glass on the inside of the pipe.  If you do not have access to the joint where backpurging is an option, you almost certainly don't have enough access for mechanical removal or removal via a pickling solution.

my problema is that in other reparation of the equipment we have some problems with the purge so i´m looking foward another solutions.

i think the problems were with the purge but il could be from a carburation layer of the material....

RE: incoloy 800ht

What sort of equipment was being used for the backpurge?  There are many simple solutions that can be used without any significant equipment.  Were you using nitrogen as a purge gas or argon?

my problem is that i have to cut 104 tubes and i can´t purge all the system.....and we can´t use paper to purge because of plugging the tubes diameter 1 1/4"
