Is 2009 really faster?
Is 2009 really faster?
(OP)
Just got an email from my VAR stating that 09 is 65% faster than 2008. If this is true I need to install it ASAP.
Anyone using 09 can corroborate this?

Also, pre-release 1 is available at the customer portal. You could always download it and find out for yourself.

While some areas might see such an improvement, I seriously doubt that the whole package would. I do know that they've improved assembly speed via something they call 'SpeedPack', but I don't know what the % is.

I am almost fed up with 08. Its such a slow pos, especially in drawings mode. I almost feel like exporting my views to AUTOCAD at this point.

RE: Is 2009 really faster?
My VAR rep said she just went to the VAR Rollout and she is raving of performance claims.
So, I hope this isn't hijacking this thread or too off topic, but; I've been performing a simply benchmark of opening an Assembly that I have for a few years now on every release / SP of SW that we install. I open in four different modes, my local C Drive, both normal mode and lightweight, then across our LAN in normal and lightweight. This study has been done with the same assembly file, the same Laptop, connected through the same LAN routing to the same network over the course of the study. I think the clear conclusion of the study is that SW is heading in the right dirrection on performance. Study below: (the numbers on the rh column are all in seconds)
Local Drive Normal Mode
06SP4.1 100.00
06SP5.0 52.00
07SP1.0 65.00
07SP2.0 40.50
07SP3.0 53.00
08SP3.0 15.00
Local Drive Lightweight Mode
06SP4.1 31.00
06SP5.0 26.00
07SP1.0 22.50
07SP2.0 18.00
07SP3.0 22.00
08SP3.0 7.00
LAN Normal Mode
06SP4.1 128.00
06SP5.0 69.00
07SP1.0 66.50
07SP2.0 61.50
