ASTM A1011 versus 430 or 434 Stainless Steel

ASTM A1011 versus 430 or 434 Stainless Steel

ASTM A1011 versus 430 or 434 Stainless Steel

(OP)
We have a part currently speced to be machined out of 430 or 434 stainless steel.  In efforts to reduce cost, it was suggested to make the part from cold drawn ASTM A1011.  The only property that we are concerned with is the ferromagnetism of the material.  Does anyone see any issue with making this material change?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

RE: ASTM A1011 versus 430 or 434 Stainless Steel

If your only requirement is ferromagnetism, then steel according to ASTM A 1011 will work as it is ferromagnetic.

Cory
