Defining Tensile/Compression Strength for Plastics
Defining Tensile/Compression Strength for Plastics
(OP)
Hi.
This is a simple question about defining material properties of a plastic I guess.
I have a value for tensile & compression strength and have to include this in my model, alongside the modulus & poisson ratio. I use *Elastic for modulus & poisson, but I don't know which card to use for tensile & compression.
Have already checked the manual, but the search 'tensile compression strength' leads me to the Hashin criteria page, which is not suitable for my material.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,
jo

RE: Defining Tensile/Compression Strength for Plastics
for steel, *plastic will do the compression and tension strength of the material.
for concrete, u have to define compression and tension seperately. i.e *concrete damaged plasticity, *tension softhening.
hope this help.

But then again... Can we define compression for plastics?
