Hi All
I was wondering if it's possible to control what's showing in the bom depending on the assembly configuration?
I have a fairly big assembly into which I inserted a new module, The perfect way for that would have been to put all of this inside a sub-assembly then make the draft from this sub-assembly but since it has inter-part copies, and moving parts dependent from the master assembly I can't do that.
The only options I seem to have to control the bom are "Include only ballooned parts" and "Exclude hidden parts". the first one is a good start but to be able to have the right quantity I have to put a balloon at each and every instance of the same part... The second one won't take care of some parts because they are hidden by other ones. So I am hoping for another solutions other than those or to control it manually!

I don't know a better solution with the parts list command...
You could use the Tools/Reports command though (when in the assembly). You can base it on the parts currently shown. So you could have selected the configuration just before for example.
With 'summary of atomic parts', you should get a similar result to the parts list command. You can then copy/paste in Excel and insert the excel table in your draft. The problem being that this is not linked at all to your assembly...

PartsList > Properties > List Control > Selected Item > Include/Exclude.
You can also have some control using occurrence properties in the assembly model.
When you say Assembly Configuration, do you mean a family of assemblies or a display configuration ?
When creating a draft of an assembly family member you select the member to use, and then the parts list is created accordingly. If it's a display configuration you will have to use 'manual' methods as shown above.

That's exactly what I was afraid of, since it's a display configuration, I don't what to manually select every components in the bom. I was hoping that someone would have a magic solution for that but I think I will try to transfer everything in a sub-assembly, I just wish that I'll be able to keep the link intact.

Place an iso view ouside the drawing boarder that has 'show edges of hidden parts' displayed.
Balloon the view and specify that all instances of parts are ballooned, and also place the parts list.
You can now delete the balloons for parts you don't want in your parts list then swap the parts list to only show ballooned items.
The * next to the item number will help to indicate when you have got rid of all the balloons for that item.
