Section view ONLY in NX5

Section view ONLY in NX5

Section view ONLY in NX5

Is it possible to place ONLY a full section view on a drawing?

I do not want a base view on the print, I only want 1 view and I want it to be sectioned.

I don't see and way to "hide" a view or delete a parent and leave the un-associated child behind.

I guess I will just drag it out of the print area for now, but I would like to know if there is a formal way to achieve this.

Any help is always appreciated!

JAY

RE: Section view ONLY in NX5

I don't know if this is possible with a "formal" procedure.  We used to just place the parent view on a "scratch" drawing that was only used for this type of situation.  With the advent of the latest couple of releases though, we can't do that and also used the auto-text for our drawing SH numbers.  Now we would just reduce the parent view boundaries so that nothing was showing and relocate the views as req'd.

I forgot to add that we would turn off the section line and labels display.

Thanks EWH. Makes sense.

You should be able to place both views on one drawing then move the parent to another sheet at a later time.

RE: Section view ONLY in NX5

Add a base view and create your section from that then if necessary edit the section arrows display to be none. When you're done you can edit the view boundary of the base view to be a small square over clear space so that the base view effectively disappears. It's called cheating and it works :)
