Bearing Life Test Design

Bearing Life Test Design

Bearing Life Test Design

(OP)
Hi All,

I attended a seminar on HALT several years ago, but we never implemented it where I worked. Since then, I'm stuck with designing a "life test" for a water lubricated bearing.  The various supplier sites offer no help in terms of standards they build to (and I could test to).  Breadcrumb in the right direction to design a life test for these bearings?

We need to understand/verify manufacturer's claims for loading, shaft speed, bearing gap, water groove geometry influence, etc.  This isn't a marine application, but it is submerged. Also need to understand how to test for dirty water conditions.

What do you think?
