Help!! Mettler Toledo weight data to DelatV via Profibus

Help!! Mettler Toledo weight data to DelatV via Profibus

Help!! Mettler Toledo weight data to DelatV via Profibus

(OP)
Hi,
I haven't had sucess in getting weight value from  Mettler Toledo WWM balance  communicating to Delta-V via a serial to profibus methodology (ie. serial to a MT Profibus Converter "blue box").  All the communication status are GOOD in both side but there is always "0" on the weight value.  Can anyone help? Thanks!
Current Hardware connection:
MT balance - serial port to - MT Profibus converter - Profibus cable (DB9) to Profibus Hub - Profibus cable(RS485) to DeltaV Profibus I/O module.

RE: Help!! Mettler Toledo weight data to DelatV via Profibus

I haven't done a profibus but used Allen Bradley RIO and Ethernet to a Jag Xtreme. I suspect you may be looking at the wrong location in the scale, see if you can display a whole range of variables. Once you get some data figure out which part is the weight then narrow it down.
Ethernet to the Jag requires a port address as well as the adapter address perhaps Profibus is the same
Are you requesting information from the scale or is it in continuos broadcast mode.
You say the MT connection is serial, try connecting a laptop in parallel running a terminal program that way you should see the communications trying to work.
Start off with a low baud rate for the serial link e.g. 1200 it's more forgiving
I will scan through my notes tomorrow, see if I can see anything else.
Post your MT model No
Hope this helps,
Roy
