Noise and Jam in Horizontal Booster Pump
Noise and Jam in Horizontal Booster Pump
(OP)
All ,
I operated 5 horizontal water booster pumps for 2 hours ,during stop all of them start to give noise , after stoppage all of them were jammed and were hard to rotate freely.
The pumped water is very clean , and the expected cause for failure is unbalance for the internal rotating parts , Maybe the manufacturer did not perform the dynamic balance , or improper dimensions and clearance between the rotating parts ???
The pumps were dismantled , no debris were observed , however, jammed were observed between the impeller inside surface and the stages discs.
any new inputs are highly appreciated ...
Thanks

If there are signs of rubbing then it looks like insufficient clearance or running too far left on the curve resulting in radial deflection of the
More info please, my crystal ball is a bit hazy today.
