pH effluent in Secuencial Batch Reactor

pH effluent in Secuencial Batch Reactor

Hi, i have problems in my wastewater plant:

The pH of effluent is near to 8.0, the pH feed to SBR is near to 6.5 and in the reaction phase have much white foam.

it is possible that the foam must to an excess of coagulant/floculant used in unit CAF, previos to SBR.

Water Analysis are:

Feed SBR=
Total solids: 2500 mg/L
Suspended solids: 800 mg/L
Oil and grease: 40 mg/L
BOD: 1200 mg/L
Q: 3 l/seg
Volume Water feed: 75 m3

Sludge=
Volatile Suspended solids: 2500 mg/L
Volume Sludge: 300 m3

Effluent=
Total Solids: 1600 mg/L
Suspended solids: 100 mg/L
Oil and grease: 20 mg/lt
BOD: 50 mg/Lt
NO2-: < 10mg/L

at the moment I am not measuring phosphorus and nitrogen not to have the reagents.

Thanks.

RE: pH effluent in Secuencial Batch Reactor

The pH is normal for an activated sludge pump. The activated sludge process inherently buffers the pH.

You need to check the F/M ratio to see if you are overfeeding the activated sludge process.

You also need to do a better job of removing the O/G.

Thanks, and the white foam in the aereation phase??

RE: pH effluent in Secuencial Batch Reactor

White sudsy foam generally indicates a situation with young sludge in an overloaded aeration tank.
